The Board of Directors of A Promise to Peru, Inc. invited Dr and Mrs Victor Rozas to New York for a dinner meeting at the home of George and Debra Coritsidis. The Board wanted to personally meet the past president of the Peruvian American Medical Society (PAMS). For the past two years Dr Rozas has been instrumental in obtaining the necessary paperwork from the Peruvian Minister of Health for the cataract surgical and medical missions. In addition PAMS has coordinated with regional authorities to recruit and transport patients to the surgical site and assured that the transportation of the supplies and equipment from the US would occur smoothly. The meeting included discussions about the future long term goals of our organization. Dr Rozas was able to describe specific needs of the various communities in Peru. He mentioned that the Inca Rotary Club in Cuzco is looking to establish a relationship with A Promise to Peru, Inc to possibly assist in providing access to the cataract surgery we offer to the many severely visually impaired people in the Cuzco region. The working relationship and friendship established with Dr & Mrs Rozas and PAMS will continue to grow through the years ahead and A Promise to Peru, Inc. looks forward to continuing to improve our cataract surgical and medical assistance to the neediest in Peru.

Dr. Victor V. Rozas, born and raised in Cuzco, Peru, went to Lima in 1960 to attend San Marcos University Medical School. After he graduated from medical school and while pursuing his internship at Arzobispo Loayza hospital, he was motivated by Dr. Carlos Subaste to further his education in the US. He began his first year in Internal Medicine at Philadelphia General Hospital. Then, after two years at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, he attended the University of Michigan for his nephrology fellowship. Upon completion of his fellowship, he established a nephrology practice that now includes ten dialysis facilities in and around Alma, Michigan.
